The Saturday Code Hub and Raspberry Pi Workshop will be running alongside each other.  Each course is booked for a six week block and will run on a Saturday Afternoon from 1.30pm to 3.00pm.

Raspberry Pi Workshops

If you have a Raspberry Pi and have started a project and got a little stuck or you just want to actually do something with your Raspberry Pi then this is the place to be.

With us you will;

  • Understand what your Raspberry Pi can do and how it can best support your project
  • Plan your project
  • Code your project

If you do not have a project in mind but just want to get more familiar with your Pi we have a number of possible projects you could undertake.

Ideally you will have your own Raspberry Pi, SD card, keyboard, mouse to work with increasing your confidence in handling and coding.  If not YMH does have some Raspberry Pi's available please contact YMH directly to discuss this option.

As we will be using Python to program the Raspberry Pi's it would be useful if you are familiar with the programming language.  To gain an understating of Python code it would be useful to work through the Python session on Code Academy https://www.codecademy.com

We work on a ratio of 1 Maker leader to 8 attendees this level of staffing ensure that each attendee receives the support they need to successfully move their project forward.

Saturday Code Hub

These sessions will focus more on the coding ability of the attendees we will use 3 different coding platforms;

  • Scratch - Block Code
  • BBC Micro:bit - Block Code and Micro Python
  • Python -  A text based programming language

The programming languages above enable you to learn the fundamentals of coding and increase a code complexity as your confidence progresses.

You can be a beginner, intermediate or experienced; our experience coders will support you to develop your projects

We can support individuals from age 8 upwards right through to adults who just want to have a go or develop their skills further.

We work on a ratio of 1 Maker leader to 8 attendees this level of staffing ensure that each attendee receives the support they need to successfully move their project forward.

If your child has previously attend these session they will continue to build on the coding skills they have already developed.

Please note all individual sessions need to be booked by midnight on the Thursday before the Saturday Session.  This will assist us with numbers, staffing levels and administration.  Many Thanks
